NEW CASTLE- Melvin L. Mozingo, 82, passed away Tuesday evening February 14, 2017 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana. A son of the late Terry and Thelma (Becker) Mozingo, Melvin was born on November 28, 1934 in Greensburg, Indiana. He graduated from Sandy Creek Township High School in Decatur County with the class of 1953. He was called to the ministry and served several congregations in United Methodist Church which included charges in Greensburg, Ogden and New Castle. As with many ministers, Melvin also worked a second full time job to help support his family. He worked in fiberglass production doing research/development and maintenance for 28 ½ years (1953-1980) for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Shelbyville and also in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He returned to the Knightstown/New Castle area in 1980 and worked in the maintenance department at Richmond State Hospital from 1980-2002. Survivors include 3 children, Melvin Boyd (April) Mozingo of Grand Rapids, OH Freida Mozingo of New Castle and Randy (Shari) Mozingo of New Castle, PA; 7 grandchildren, Cassandra (Joe), Daniel, Duane, Kathy, Amber, Stefan and Christopher; 4 great grandchildren, Aiden, Redden, Charlotte and Greyson; 3 siblings- Dale (Synda-Ann) Mozingo and Jo Ann (Bill) Bates both of Greensburg and Linda (Russell) Wilson of Westport; nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Anna (New) Mozingo on August 15, 2001; 2 siblings, Rollin Mozingo and Sharon Bochover. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 6 p.m. on Saturday February 18, 2017 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Carol Wiley of the Spiceland United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Hope Cemetery in Hope, Indiana.
