INDIANAPOLIS - Melissa Ann Reed, 49, formerly of Carthage, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was born on September 27, 1963 in Anderson, Indiana to Charles and JoAnn (Morgan) Rider. Melissa graduated from Pendleton Heights High School with the class of 1982. She married David E. Reed on October 11, 1983 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They lived in Carthage before moving to Indianapolis in 2011. She was an active member of the Knightstown Kingdom Hall for 19 years before recently attending the East Lawrence Kingdom Hall. Melissa enjoyed life and in particular decorating, caring for animals, spending time outdoors, and dancing which she taught for several years at Crandall's Dance Studio in Pendleton. Survivors include her husband; father; son, Eric M. Reed of Rushville; brothers, Rick Rider of Chesterfield, Randy Rider of Anderson. Melissa was preceded in death by her mother. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday September 7, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall west of Knightstown on U.S. Hwy. 40.
