NEW CASTLE - Max Vernon Souder, 80, of New Castle went to meet his Maker on December 26, 2017. He was born in Rush County near Mays, Indiana on November 17, 1937 to the late Merrill and Goldie (Collins) Souder. Max attended school in Mays and Lewisville. Following graduation, he attended Indiana University East in Richmond for two years. He worked as a produce manager at Becker Brothers Grocery in New Castle for many years and retired from Marsh Supermarket after several years of service. Max was a generous person, always seeking ways to help those in need.

Survivors include three siblings, Ann Wooldridge of New Castle, Gary (Sue) Souder of Florida, and Larry (Linda) Souder of Straughn; one niece, Dianna Wooldridge of Oregon, and one nephew, Chris Wooldridge of Arizona.
