NEW LISBON- Mary Lou Wicker, 89, passed away Monday evening September 26, 2016 at Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. A daughter of the late John Watson and Carolyn Mae (Henley) Pickering, Mary Lou was born in Lewisville, Indiana on August 8, 1927. A lifelong Henry County resident, Mary Lou was raised on the Pickering Homestead and graduated from Lewisville High School with the class of 1945. She had worked for Perfect Circle and Kentucky Fried Chicken at New Lisbon but retired in 2006, after 20 years of service, from the New Lisbon Telephone Company where she was affectionately known as "The Telephone Lady". Mary Lou was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church, Lifetime Member of the Henry County Saddle Club and a volunteer at the Henry County Hospital. In her leisure, Mary Lou enjoyed gardening and playing piano and her primary hobby was spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her 2 sons, Jay A. Wicker of New Castle and James R. Wicker of New Lisbon; 5 grandchildren, John Robert, Lisa (husband Ryan), Harmony, Joel and Jake; 1 great granddaughter, Vivian; 3 siblings, Robert Pickering of Kirklin, John Pickering and Janet Wesley both of Lewisville; several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years at the time of his death, Richard Neal Wicker, on September 23, 1994. They were married at the Lewisville Presbyterian Church on September 22, 1946. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday September 30, 2016 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Burial will follow at the New Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday September 29th at the Lewisville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Indiana F.F. A. Foundation- P.O.
