CAMBRIDGE CITY-  Mary Jane Port, 74, passed away Tuesday evening December 3, 2024.  Mary Jane was born on February 1, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Russell "Casey" and Edna (Johnson) Thompson.  Jane graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968 and was a lifelong resident of Cambridge City.  On January 19, 1979, she married the love of her life and best friend, Sam Port.  The couple briefly lived in Morganton, N. Carolina before returning to their home in Cambridge City in 1984.  Jane worked for MetLife in Richmond and N. Carolina for sixteen years and then MEG in Cambridge City for six years.  She and Sam spent their winters at their home in Bradenton, Florida and loved going to Anna Maria Island and the beach every day possible.

Survivors include Sam, her husband of 45 years; daughter, Gretchen Weston; granddaughters, Lindsey and Lauren Weston; stepson, Todd Port and family; brothers, Jerry and Frank Thompson; sister in-law, Peggy Thompson; nieces and nephews; friends and many Florida friends that became "winter family".

Deceased family members include her mother and father, Edna and Casey Thompson; mother in-law and father in-law, Dorothy and Chet Port; stepdaughter, Lorri and 2 step-granddaughters; son in-law, Wade Weston; aunts and uncles.

Private services will be held on a future date with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.

Jane's family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice and Arbor Trace for the care they provided during her brief stay.
