DUBLIN - Mary Lou Atkinson, 73, of Dublin passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at The Waters Nursing Facitily in New Castle. Mary was born in Linton, Indiana to William Woolsey, Jr and Ruby D. (Craig) Woolsey on October 23, 1938. She was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School and moved to Dublin in 1965. On April 1, 1961 she married Robert Lee Atkinson in Chesterfield, Indiana. Mary earned her LPN degree from Ivy Tech in 1972 and attended Indiana University East while working at Henry County Hospital until 1982. In 1986 she graduated from Anderson University with her Registered Nurse Degree. Mary worked as an RN at Fayette Memorial Hospital until 1987 when she started working on an as needed basis. Mary attended Pershing United Methodist Church, was an avid football fan, and a member of the American Legion Auxillary and the Surgical Nurses Association. She is survived by two sons, William Atkinson of Pershing and Robert L. Atkinson, Jr. of Cambridge City; a special friend, Gail Eshenbaugh of Cambridge City; four grandchildren, Erika M. Sonnier, Justin Sonnier, Lacey K. Atkinson, William Dakota Atkinson; two great-grandchildren, Jada Lynn Sonnier and Alexander Gryphon Bex; a sister, Dianna K (Jerry) Bunch of New Castle; one niece and one nephew. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband on October 27, 2008, and daughter, Terri Sonnier. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
