Richmond – Marlin Duane Craig, 88, passed peacefully the morning of Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at his home. Marlin was born in Cambridge City, Indiana to the late Merle and Mary Agnes (Kirkham) Craig on January 8, 1935. His mom passed away while he was an infant. His father then married Faye Weber, the only loving mother Marlin ever knew.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Marlin joined the U.S. Army in 1954. He served as a radio operator while stationed in Germany as part of the occupation force. Marlin was honorably discharged on April 10, 1956. He then graduated from Ball State University with a master's degree in education in the early 60s. He taught, mentored, and coached multiple sports at Royerton, Union Modoc, and Centerville high schools. In 1969 he became the athletic director at Centerville High School, a position he held for 25 years. He retired in 1995, and his dedication to Centerville High School was honored by the naming of the football field and track, "Craig Field".

Marlin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, Notre Dame, and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed being outside playing golf and hunting. His wife Mona taught him everything he knew about refinishing antique furniture, an activity they enjoyed doing together.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, the former Mona Dennis. They were married at the Methodist parsonage in Cambridge City on June 30, 1954; 2 darling children, Holly (Mike) Schwab and Blaine (Debbie) Craig; 3 grandsons, Christopher, Richard, and Jared; 2 great-grandchildren, Blaine Thomas, and Avery Mae; his younger brother, Richard Craig.

Marlin is preceded in death by his older brother, Maurice Craig.

Honoring Marlin's wishes a private family service will be held at a later date with burial at Raleigh Cemetery in Rush County.
