Obituary

Dublin- Marion W. Lawrence, 95, passed away on Monday February 7, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana as a result of a fall at his home. A son of the late Hardy and Eva (Cruse) Lawrence, Marion was born in New Lisbon, Indiana on July 8, 1915. Marion grew up and lived his entire life in the Dublin community, of which he was very proud. He graduated from high school here and witnessed many changes in the community while riding his bicycle around town as a child and adult. Marion owned several properties in town and enjoyed maintaining them in his younger years. He also enjoyed gardening and reading. Marion served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Supply Sergeant in the European Theatre. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Non Denominational Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, the former Alice (Engen) Oberhelman, whom he married in Richmond, Indiana in March of 1983. 4 stepchildren- Sharon Krause and Ronnie Oberhelman both of Milton, Marvin Oberhelman of Pershing and Cindy Fox of Fayette County; 7 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by a step granddaughter- Darla Krause; 1 brother- Neal Lawrence; 2 sisters- Geraldine Hahn and Bernadine Hunt. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday February 11, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday February 10 and prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
