BENTONVILLE- Marilyn Eileen Rea Sherwood, 92, of Bentonville passed away at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Wednesday May 8th, 2024. She resided with her daughter, Julie, in Knoxville, for the past six years. A daughter of the late Paul L. and Ruth A. (Atkins) Rea, Marilyn was born in Knightstown, Indiana, on May 28th, 1931. She was raised in the Bentonville community and graduated from high school there in 1949. Marilyn married the love of her life, Chester "Chet" Sherwood, at the Bentonville Christian Church on November 5th, 1950. She had worked at the Olin Davis Insurance Agency for over 30 years as a Manager/Agent. She was a member of the Bentonville Christian Church and enjoyed gardening and reading. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Marilyn is survived by her three daughters, Sandy (Mack) Lainhart, Jennifer (Rebecca) Sherwood, and Julie (Jim) Reddick; five grandchildren, Chad (Amy) Lainhart, Anna (Brandon) Nobles, Hannah Nail, Courtney Nail, and Lyndsey Jinks; six great grandchildren, Jade and Jacob Kincade, Blake and Kahla Nail, Trenton Fischer and her new joy, Cooper Nobles; one great-great granddaughter, Viola; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Joanne Pflum.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Chester Heck Sherwood, on February 7th, 1997; four brothers, Wayne, Eugene, Daniel, and David Rea; and good friend, Alta Merle.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday May 17th, 2024, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Larry Kuntz will officiate. Burial will follow at Bentonville Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday May 16th, 2024, and one hour prior to services on Friday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bentonville-Ebenezer Christian Church.
