DUBLIN- Margaret Alice Horseman, 96, passed away on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Wesleyan Village in Elyria, Ohio. Margaret was born on May 7, 1916 in Rush County, Indiana. A resident of Dublin, Indiana until October 2001, she has been residing in Elyria, Ohio until her death. Margaret was an amazing woman who lived a full and happy life. She was a woman who believed that being kind didn't cost a thing and through her daily actions lived a life that demonstrated that belief. She believed in volunteerism and remained an active volunteer at the Golay Community Center in Cambridge City until she was 86 years old. Margaret was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1933 and attended New Castle Business College. She served as a Red Cross Nurse's Aide at the Henry County Hospital in New Castle in the early 1940s. On January 1, 1942, she was appointed the Postmaster at Dublin, Indiana by President Harry S. Truman. She retired on December 31, 1972. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Postmasters and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Margaret was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and served as a youth and adult Sunday school teacher as well as Deacon, Trustee and Elder and a past president of the Woman's Association. She was a member and past president of the Helen Hunt Club, the Milton Cary Club and served on the boards of The Dublin Library and Cemetery Boards while living in Dublin. After retiring, Margaret travelled all over the United States with family and friends including a trip to Alaska. In 2012, Margaret was highlighted in The Helen Hunt Club's book, Women Who Made a Difference, for her dedication and service to the Dublin and Cambridge City areas. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Mae Sorrell Horseman- Dec. 16, 1986 - Oct. 21, 1944 and Edgar Everret Horseman- July 19, 1875 - Aug. 9, 1953; siblings, Eva Beulah Horseman- Oct. 30, 1904 - Jan. 20, 1984 and Kenneth Horseman- April 26, 1923 - May 20, 1999 Survivors include her nieces and nephews, John Horseman (Susan) - St. Louis, MO, Jim Horseman - Avon, OH, Amy Payner (Brook) - New York, New York, Beth Ladd (Jeff) - Avon, OH; 11 great nieces and nephews; cousin, Jill Fitzhugh (Loren) - New Castle, IN A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Rev. Arthur Whitaker will officiate. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
