CAMBRIDGE CITY- (Thelma) Mae Sturgis , 90 years old, died on Friday evening March 11, 2016. Mae was born on August 15, 1925 in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Earl and Irene Gibson, she was the oldest of nine children. Mae graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1944 and then from Richmond Business College. She worked at NATCO and Belden Corp.. Mae married Robert Sturgis in 1946 and together they started an accounting and real estate business in Cambridge City. They were also short time owners of Milton Food Market. Mae was an active member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge City where she was the treasurer for 30 years. She also was treasurer for the Dublin Public Library. She ran her own tax service for 30 years after the death of her husband. With her non-stop energy, she was affectionately known for helping neighbors, friends, and family in times of need. She is survived by two brothers and a sister; three sons, Larry (Betty) Sturgis and Jerry Sturgis both of Cambridge City and Barry (Kathy) Sturgis of Cedarville, Ohio; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 27, 1984; two brothers; three sisters; one daughter-in-law, Frankie Jo Sturgis on December 27, 2011. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday March 15, 2016 with funeral services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Mal Gibson will officiate.
