CAMBRIDGE CITY- Mae Gibbs, 90, passed away early Wednesday morning February 10, 2016 at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville, Indiana. A daughter of the late Clarence and Frances (Stidham) Hale, Mae was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on January 19, 1926. She has lived in the Cambridge City community for most of her life where she owned and operated the Golden Locke Beauty Shoppe for many years. She was a member of the Cambridge City Church of the Nazarene. Mae was a gifted artist and was well known in the community for her special talent in oil painting. There was never a task or project that she could not complete. In her leisure, she also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Dewey Gibbs Jr.; a great niece whom she raised, Heidi Seckman of Williamstown, Kentucky; 4 siblings, Wilgus Hale and Rose Basford both of Richmond, Betty Bever of Indianapolis and Charlotte Schaffer of Ft. Meyers, Florida; 2 nieces, Marsha McQueen of Cambridge City and Debrah Price of Williamstown, Kentucky. Mae was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Moore; 4 brothers, Willie, Bobby, Lenville and Delmas Hale. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Friday February 12, 2016 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at the Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
