Obituary

Mada Jarvis Hill, 98, formerly of Cambridge City, passed away on December 13, 2013 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville, Indiana. Born on August 29, 1915, (in Cumberland County, Kentucky) she was the daughter of Charles and Ida (Madison) Jarvis. Her formative years were spent in south eastern Henry County, Indiana, graduating from Straughn High School as valedictorian of her class. Mada was a fully engaged farm wife, tending to numerous chores, as well as helping in the fields. She was a loving and supporting wife to Edwin Hill, her husband of 62 years who preceded her in death in 1998. Mada was the mother of Charles Hill (Nancy) of Fort Wayne, In., Norma Gehner (Tom) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Wilma Griffin (John) of Carmel, Indiana, and nurtured, supported, and encouraged them all throughout her life. In addition to her three children, Mada was blessed with seven grand children and fifteen great grand children. She was an active member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church near Lewisville, Indiana, where she served as a youth Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder, and held the many offices of the Ebenezer Women's association. For the past five years, she has been a resident of Summer Trace Retirement and Assisted Living in Carmel, Indiana. Mada was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hill, and her four brothers, mother and father. Mada embraced life, made the most of every day, and spread joy all along the way. Her smile was contagious and made everyday brighter for all those around her. She will be missed greatly. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church 7495 E 1200 N, Lewisville, Indiana 47352. Rev Jim Shirey will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to Ebenezer Presbyterian Church or Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 S Range Line Road, Carmel, Indiana 46032.
