Larry K. Gumm, 75, of Pershing, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 2nd, 2026. While his passing was unexpected, those who knew the depth of his love for his beloved wife, Jeanne, feel that his broken heart longed to be with her again after her recent passing on May 5th, 2026.
Larry was born in Oneida, Kentucky to Lucille (Moore) and Kenneth Gumm on September 7th, 1950. He graduated from Owsley County High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was an aircraft maintenance specialist. Larry was a proud Vietnam veteran and was honored to have served our great country. On June 23rd, 1973, he married the love of his life, Jeanne McCutcheon. Together they built a life of love, raising 3 wonderful children, creating countless memories along the way. After he was honorably discharged, he started a career with Roots Dresser in Connersville, Indiana until he was medically retired. He had a deep passion for woodworking and loved making homemade gifts for his loved ones at Christmas time. Larry also enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors, making many memories with the those he loved. He was extremely proud to participate in a military honor flight in 2023 alongside his oldest daughter, an experience that held special meaning and created lasting memories. Larry was also extremely proud of his 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a baby brother.
Larry is survived by his siblings, Rita Henry, Kathy Roberts, Benny Gum, Mike Gumm, and Debbie Anama. His love will continue through his children who will miss him dearly; Lucinda Alexander (Shawn), Shannon Hawk (Zach), and Keith Gumm (Mary Jo); his grandchildren and great children were something he was extremely proud of—Logan, Cameron (Rachel), Macie, Chloe, Clarissa, Carson, Jonah, Cora, Jordan, Taiya, Cody, Ray, and Emma. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who all looked up to him. Honorary family members, Shawn Longnecker, Kayla Adams, and Hoyt Longnecker will miss him deeply.
Visitation for Larry will be held Monday June 8th, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial with military honors provided by contingents of the United States Air Force and American Legion Post #169 will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a monetary donation be made to a veteran’s organization in Larry’s name, or directly to the family for the purchase of a headstone.
