STRAUGHN - Larry A. Colvin, 75, of Straughn, passed away Saturday evening, January 31, 2015 at Henry County Hospital, New Castle. A son of the late William Alexander and Gladys May (Clark) Colvin, Larry was born in Hagerstown, Indiana on January 9, 1940. He grew up in the Western Wayne Community and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1958. Larry served his country with the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962, earning the rank of Corporal. On November 14, 1964 he married the former Carolyn Young in Pershing, Indiana. Larry retired from Dana Corporation in 1991 after 29 years of service and was owner of Colvin Archery in Straughn. He was a member of the American Legion Post 137 in New Castle and the Dana Corporation 25 Year Club. In his leisure, Larry enjoyed archery, coin collecting, woodworking, beading, and watching John Wayne movies. Survivors include his children, William "Bill" (So Young) Colvin, Jeannette Thurman, JerriAnn Colvin all of Straughn; grandchildren, Wm. Larry Colvin, Ethan Perry, Alyssa Thurman, Hannah Moreland, Phoebe Cunningham; siblings, Jerry (Sue) Colvin of Arkansas, Janet (Don) Wampler of Pennville, Indiana. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn, on November 16, 2011; sisters, Ann Dale, Barbara Geise, Bertha Rinhart; brother, Bill Colvin. Family and friends may gather from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. A graveside service with military honors will follow at South Lawn Cemetery, Dublin. Rev. Thomas Sproles will officiate.
