IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen S.
Fisher
May 4, 1957 – May 15, 2015
CAMBRIDGE CITY - It is with much sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Karen S. Fisher on Friday, May 15, 2015. Born on a spring day in May 1957 she was born to loving parents, Carlin H. and Betty J. Galloway Bailey. With her chubby little checks and warm loving ways she brought much joy to her new little family. As a child she was lovingly referred to as "Susie Que" and "Dutchy" , Mom was always a happy child giving hugs and kisses to those she loved. This trait followed her throughout her life. She started her school years at Laurel Elementary School and later attended Bentonville Elementary. She was a 1975 graduate of Connersville High School. In her younger years, she worked at Mac's Family Restaurant in Connersville, and was a teller at Bentonville State Bank. She married Steven J. Fisher in 1979 and although this union did not last, it resulted in what she regarded her greatest accomplishments in life, being a mother to her four children, Jeannie, Joe, Carrie, and Chase. Family was everything to Mom and like a true mother she would do without so we could thrive. Growing up she always made sure we did all the childhood things and she put "Mom's Taxi Service" to use to make sure we got to baseball & softball games, & Boy and Girl Scouts functions. She volunteered as a helper with Boy Scout Troop 6 and Girl Scout troops in Cambridge City area. She also served as Girl Scout Leader and Assistant Leader for over 10 years. She received the Outstanding Leader Award for her work with Troop 148. Although our lifestyle was modest, she would do without and worked hard to make sure we had no worries and had what we needed throughout our childhood. There were always two things she instilled in us as we grew up. First was not to grow up to fast. She would tell us "You have 18 years be a child and God willing another70+ to be an adult." The other piece of wisdom that still holds true even until today was "treat others the same way you wish to be treated" Mom always took pride in being a mother to us and keeping a home for us. When we started having children of our own her love, hugs and kisses all extended to them. She loved her grandchildren with every fiber of her being. She always said that having grandchildren was the best thing in life. Her lap was always open to each one of them to cuddle, read a story, or sing a song to them. Our children loved their "MeMaw" to the moon and back. She leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, Hannah, Sarah, and Adonis. Mom was preceded in death by her father Carlin H. Bailey who passed away in 1991, and a brother, Gary L. Bailey who passed away in 2011. Mom leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children and their families: Jeannie and James Bogue of Cambridge City and their four children Ben, Daniel, Hannah, and Sarah; Joseph Fisher and fiancé Bethany Ross of Cambridge City and their son Gavin Ross; Carrie Fisher and fiancé Justin Martin of Richmond and son, Adonis; and Steven Chase of Hagerstown, Indiana. She also leaves behind her dearest mother and best friend, Betty J. Bailey of Connersville; her "Older Sister" Deborah A. Bailey of Cambridge City; Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, and many members of extended family, special and close friends who will all truly miss her. We invite you come and help celebrate Moms life with us from 4:00 p.m. until the time that we read the eulogy she wrote and share memories at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will be in the family plot at Valley Grove Cemetery south of Milton, Indiana at the convenience of the family. To honor Mom, and in lieu of flowers she left instructions to ask friends and family to give to their special charity, or just to do something nice and unexpected for someone.
