STRAUGHN - Joyce (Callis) Deebel, 82, of Straughn, Indiana passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her residence. She was born on June 10, 1931 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Washington Lee "Haggard" and Bessie Lee (Willis) Callis. Joyce grew up in the Cambridge City community and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1949. She married Glenn H. Deebel in Lewisville, Indiana on August 31, 1949 and has lived in the Straughn community since that time. Joyce was a beautician for over thirty years at Marie's Beauty Shop in Lewisville and ran a catering business for 35 years. She was a member of the Lewisville Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Lewisville Eastern Star. Joyce enjoyed decorating ostrich and rhea eggs, landscape painting, stained glass, and taking care of her cats. Survivors include her children, Cathy E. (Gary) Crandall of Straughn, Pat L. (Linda) Deebel of Aurora, Colorado; step-grandson, Josh Crandall of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Faike of Hood River, Oregon; brother, Frank Callis of Dublin, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband on September 12, 1996; brothers, Washington Lee Callis, Alfred Earnest Callis, John Monroe Callis. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Rev. Dr. Linda Philabaun will officiate. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery, Dublin. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014.
