Johnny Taylor Hicks, 88, Wapakoneta Ohio, passed away at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio on June 23, 2026.

He was born on October 7, 1937 in Greenville, Tennessee, to Leland and Selma Hicks, who preceded him in death. He married his wife of 65 years, the former Joan McCord, in 1961. 

Survivors include his wife Joan; their three children, Lori Hicks, Lisa Blissett, and Troy Hicks; their grandchildren, Nathan (Kat) Blissett, Hannah (Joe) Shehata, Nikki Hicks, Alison (Michael) Dunifon, Ethan Hicks, and Grayson Hicks; 10 great grandchildren; siblings Mike Hicks and Mary Miller;  nephew Jeff Hicks.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Leland (Buddy) and Pete Hicks.

Johnny enjoyed going to car shows, computer shows, fish frys, planting and taking care of his tomato plants. Eating his tomatoes on a kewpee hamburger. He worked at Dana Corp from 1968 until his retirement.

Visitation for Johnny will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday June 30, 2026, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. A private burial will take place on a later date at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin, Indiana
