Danville

Danville - John David Huffman, age 53, passed away on April 2, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on February 21, 1973, in Henry County, Indiana, to the late James Edward Huffman and Lolita B. Huffman. John graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City in 1991 and went on to continue his education. He spent many years working at Visteon in Connersville, Indiana, and after it closed, he worked in the service industry, where he was known for being kind and compassionate and always willing to help others.

John was known by many as a sweet and gentle soul, kind and caring with a natural way of making people laugh. In his later years, John became deeply rooted in his faith, devoting his life to Christ and to serving others. He found purpose in helping those in need, including participating in outreach efforts with his church to support the homeless and share the message of God’s love. The family is establishing a fund in John’s memory to carry on his passion for helping those who are hurting and in need. Details will be shared at a later date.

John also had a deep love for music. He was a guitarist, singer, and songwriter who especially loved worship music. One day, he hoped to produce worship music and share it with others.

He is survived by his beloved 17-year-old daughter, Jaida Huffman of Connersville, Indiana; his mother, Lolita B. Huffman of Connersville, Indiana (formerly of Cambridge City, Indiana); his brothers, Alex Balbag (Ruth) and Robert Huffman (Teresa); his sisters, Marie Marsteller (Scott) and Rachel Huffman Zoellner (Jim); as well as several close nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, many dear friends, and his beloved dog, Droopy.

He was preceded in death by his father, his sister, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be held on April 9, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin, Indiana. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin, Indiana.

Following the burial, a “Celebration of John’s Life” will be held the American Legion Post 169, located at 25 W Church Street, Cambridge City, Indiana 47327. There will be food, live music (McKinley Brown & Co off The Voice), and a time of sharing as we come together to honor his life and the peace he has found in Christ. Details will be announced in the coming days. Though John’s heart gave out, his soul never did. He now rests in the presence of the Lord, and his love, laughter, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.
