Obituary

LEWISVILLE - John C. Hubbell, 76, of Lewisville passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at I.U. Health - Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis from injuries received while loading his antique tractor. John was born in Kosciusko County, Indiana on September 2, 1935 to Glenn and Margaret (Toms) Hubbell. He was a 1953 graduate of Bentonville High School and earned his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from Purdue University in 1959. John was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany with the 11th Airborne Division from 1955 to 1957. John married the former Jeannette (Chaney) Kuhn on May 26, 1990 in the tool shed at the home place. He was a farmer in Fayette, Henry, and Rush county for over 50 years and retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1998. John was a 50 year member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #72 of Lewisville and a long time member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. John enjoyed collecting antique tractors and cars and was a member of the Pioneer Engineers Club and several other antique tractor clubs. He was also an avid skydiver and enjoyed his last jump on Saturday, August 18. Survivors include his son, David (Susan) Hubbell of Lewisville; a brother, Mark (Gilda) Hubbell of Lewisville; two grandsons, Jack and Austin Hubbell; two step-daughters, Lea (David) Fledderman of Brookville, and Lawrie (Phillip) Willis of Tennessee; four step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his wife on December 28, 2011 and his father on May 29, 1995 and his mother on October 1, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Lewisville. Burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Rev. Peter Zinn and Rev Arthur Whitaker will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until the time of Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.
