Obituary

LEWISVILLE- John M. "Bud" Hickman, 90, passed away on Friday morning September 14, 2012 at the Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana. A son of the late Frank and Dovie (Wilson) Hickman, Bud was born in Lewisville, Indiana on October 30, 1921. Bud had lived in Lewisville for most of his life before moving to New Palestine in 1993. Bud was a graduate of Lewisville High School with the class of 1940. John served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II in the South- Pacific Theater- Phillipines, Luzon and New Guinea. He worked as a building contractor and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Lewisville Presbyterian Church and attended the New Palestine United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara (Peyton) Eaton. They were married in southern Indiana near Bean Blossom on September 16, 1993. 1 son, Stephen M. (Donna) Hickman of Lewisville; 2 grandchildren, Lisa (Darrin) Lause of Fishers and Troy (Kristina) Hickman of New Albany; 5 great grandchildren; 4 step children, Jeana (David) Hiligoss of Venice, Florida, Cheryl Caudill of Milford, Brian (Maria) Eaton of Hawaii and Elizabeth Eaton and husband Tim Coyne of Morehead City, NC; 5 step grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Kellie, Lynly and Kristen; 7 step great grandchildren; 1 brother, Rev. Marion Hickman of Lewisville. Bud was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Marie "Pat" (Patterson) Hickman who died on December 30, 1990; 1 sister, Alma Fennell in 1987; brother, Frank "Gene" Hickman in 2006 and an infant brother; 1 step son in-law, Tom Caudill. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday September 20, 2012 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Dr. John Thomas of the New Palestine United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday September 19 at the funeral home.
