CAMBRIDGE CITY - Joel Edward Swim, 52, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Reid Hospital, Richmond. A son of the late C. Lenvil and Athela Jean (Nicholson) Swim, Joel was born in Richmond on July 31, 1963. A lifelong Western Wayne resident, he attended Hagerstown High School and worked as a cook and in construction. Joel was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Cambridge City. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, drawing and bird watching. Survivors include his children, Ein (Virginia) Swim of Terre Haute, Morgan (Dax) Gunder of Cambridge City, Josh (Bonnie) Williams of Evansville, Miranda (Aaron) Zigler of Watertown, New York; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Jennifer Elaine Swim, Jeanne Ellen (Furman) Hawkins, Jeffrey Evan (Yvonne) Swim, Jerome Eric (Ginger) Swim, James Edan (Anna) Swim, Johnathan Erin Swim, Julissa Elizabeth (James) Swim, Jevon Elicia Frame. Joel was preceded in death by his father on October 4, 2006; mother on October 18, 2012. Family and friends may gather from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin on Friday, April 15, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 noon at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Cambridge City. Rev. Joseph Rautenberg will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery, Hagerstown.
