SPICELAND- Joan A. Austerman, 89, passed away Thursday afternoon February 16, 2017 at Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. A daughter of the late Floyd and Florence (Estelle) Bundy, Joan was born in Henry County, Indiana on November 22, 1927. Joan was a lifelong member of the Spiceland community and graduated from Spiceland High School with the class of 1945. She was a birthright member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting and had been employed by Indiana Bell and Mary Woodbury's retail store in New Castle. In her leisure, Joan enjoyed sewing, quilting doing alterations and craftwork. Survivors include her daughter, Jerri Sharp of Spiceland; 2 granddaughters, Sara and Ashley Delk both of Muncie. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Austerman and her son, Donald Joe Austerman. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Cathy Harris of Spiceland Friends Meeting will officiate with Richard Ratcliff assisting. Burial will follow at the Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland.
