MILTON- James L. "Jim" Shank, 68, passed away on Monday September 12, 2011 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. A son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Ballinger) Shank, James was born in Jacksonburg, Indiana on September 2, 1943. A lifelong resident of the Cambridge City area, Jim attended school in Jacksonburg, Central School and Lincoln High School. While a teenager he worked at Marson's Horse Farm and then was employed at Bertsch & Co. and Miller Dairy. Jim retired in June of this year, after 30 years of service, from M.E.G. where he worked as a welder. He enjoyed working around his farm and tinkering with his old tractor and equipment. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, the former Diana Thom. They were married in Jellico, Tennessee on August 3, 1974. 2 sons, J. Adam Shank of Cambridge City and Nicholas Shank of Milton; 1 daughter, Anthonette Reece of Milton; 1 sister, Nancy Shank of Cambridge City; 1 brother, Arvil Louis Shank of Richmond; several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Inez Shank and Betty Vanausdal; 1 brother, Robert E. Shank. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday September 16, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Danny Berry will officiate. Burial will follow at the Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday September 15 at the funeral home.
