MILTON- Jessie E. Cowin - Estridge, 83, passed away on Tuesday afternoon April 27, 2010 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana. A daughter of the late John and Cora Ida (Morrison) Ames, Jessie was born in McIntosh, South Dakota on February 11, 1927. She moved to Indiana from Millbank, South Dakota 72 years ago and has lived in the Milton and Cambridge City area most of her life. She moved to the Greenfield commuinty 2 years ago. Jessie was a loving mother and grandmother and worked in home health care for several years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Cambridge City for 50 years and also taught Sunday School there. Survivors include 7 children- Verna (Fletcher) Callahan of Cambridge City, Carol (Allen) Walters of Milan, Terry (Jesse) Dunaway of Dublin, Connie (Phillip) Custer of Greenfield, Marsha (James) Moore of Cambridge City, Candy (Steve) Hastings of Spokane, Washington, Edward ( Theresa) Durham of Milton; 24 grandchildren- Tammy, Fletcher, Karen and Mark Callahan, Susan Shrader, Ronnie Southerland, Jeannie Robbins, Nikki Hankins, James, Frank and Johnny Dunaway, Phillip Jr., Robbie and Hope Custer, Casey Anderson, Teresa Brown, Donna Melton, Rhonda Conn, Sherry Hastings, Pamela Cannon, Edward Jr., Mindy, Jamie Lee and Krista Durham; several great and great - great grandchildren; 1 sister in-law Esther Ames of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Alton Eugene Cowin on December 10 , 1960. They were married in Lewisville, Indiana. 1 grandson Johnny Lee Dunaway in 1983; 1 brother George Ames: 1 sister- Ina French. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. on Friday April 30, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Jessie's nephew, the Rev. David Ames will officiate. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Memorial Contribitions can be made to the Alzhimer's Association.of Indiana- 50 E. 91st Street / Indianapolis, IN 46240
