CAMBRIDGE CITY-Jerry Dean "Hickey" Hicks, 69, of Cambridge City, Indiana was born September 3, 1953, and passed from this life on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, after a long illness. Jerry was a 1971 graduate of Lincoln High School, where he played football for four years and broke three records in weightlifting. He had lived his whole life in Cambridge City.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, James Clayton Hicks, and sister-in-law Sonya
Hicks. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Steele) Hicks of 49 years, also of Cambridge City.
The two sweethearts were married on November 17, 1973. Other survivors include a son,
Jarried Clayton Hicks of Cambridge City; Two brothers, Jim Hicks of Milton, and Paul Hicks
(Leisa) of Cambridge City; One sister, Cindy Hicks Howell (Bruce) of Cambridge City; He is
also survived by his mother, Dorothy Hicks of Cambridge City; In-Laws Larry Steele (Susan)
of Cambridge City, and Leon Steele (Karen) of Cambridge City.
Jerry was loved and thought of highly by family and friends. He was also loved dearly by
many nieces and nephews that visited him often.
Jerry was a dedicated Christian and a member of Cambridge City Church of Christ. Jerry
was also a loving husband to Barb, and loving father to his son Jarried.
Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, motorcyclist, and a gun enthusiast throughout his life.
He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. Jerry had a long career as a welder. He worked for Lee Cylinder and Meg Manufacturing. He retired from the Indiana State Highway Department after 20 years of service.
Visitation will be on Monday November 14, 2022 from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 1 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin. Brother Mike Brandenburg will officiate. Burial will follow at West Side Cemetery in Milton.
