Jeanne R. Gumm, of Pershing, gained her angel wings on May 5th, 2026, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, surrounded by family and friends.
Jeanne was born in Corydon, Indiana to May Oma (Bennett) and Melvin McCutcheon on July 11th, 1951. She attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1969. She married the love of her life, Larry Gumm, on June 23rd, 1973, at the Milton Christian Church. Jeanne cherished her years working as a waitress where she found joy and laughter and meaningful conversation with others. She also dedicated time as a teacher’s aide in Milton, where she enjoyed supporting and working with children. She loved camping, UK basketball (especially coach Calipari), going to grandkid’s ball games, and taking leisurely strolls around Pershing. If you would have asked Jeanne what her most prized possession was, she would say without hesitation her 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, David McCutcheon; sister, Jayne Collins; and sister-in-law, Peggy McCutcheon.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Larry Gumm. She leaves behind her brother, Jack McCutcheon and sister, Jeri McCutcheon West. Her love will continue through her children who will miss her dearly, Lucinda Alexander (Shawn), Shannon Hawk (Zach), and Keith Gumm (Mary Jo). Her grandchildren and great children were her whole heart - Logan, Cameron (Rachel), Macie, Chloe, Clarissa, Carson, Jonah, Cora, Jordan, Taiya, Cody, Ray, and Emma—bringing her immense joy and pride. She will also be deeply missed by a special niece, Trisha Taylor and nephew, Matthew McCutcheon; along with honorary family members, Shawn Longnecker, Kayla Adams, and Hoyt Longnecker.
