Wampler
May 2, 1946 – September 20, 2024
MILTON- Janet Louise Wampler, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening September 20, 2024. The youngest of seven children born to the late William Alexander and Gladys Mae (Clark) Colvin, Janet was born in New Castle, Indiana on May 2, 1946. Janet grew up in Wayne County and graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City with the class of 1964. She was the high school sweetheart of Don Wampler and love of his life. Their relationship would grow into becoming best friends and soulmates as they were united in marriage on September 1, 1964, at the Locust Grove Church. Janet was very proud to eventually receive a bachelor's degree in accounting from Indiana University. Along with helping Don on the farm, she also worked at Richmond Castings for over twenty-eight years and raised three boys whom she was very proud of. Janet always had time to be in attendance to support her grandchildren in their activities. She was a caring person, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Janet enjoyed singing and playing the piano, sewing, quilting and rooting on the I.U. basketball team. She was a member of the Locust Grove Church and over the years, Janet had been active in 4-H and the Home Extension Club.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Don Wampler; 3 sons, Kevin (Clara) Wampler, Darrel Wampler and Allen (Tiffany) Wampler; 7 grandchildren, Charles (Lori) Wampler, Kasey (Jesse) Tyree, Josh (Makayla) Wampler, Alex Wampler, Brenna (Tim) Reed, Austin Wampler and Ashley (Levi Marlatt) Wampler; 6 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; several nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her 6 siblings, Ann Dale, Barbara Geise, Bertha Rinehart, Bill, Larry and Jerry Colvin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday September 25, 2024 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Tim Webb will officiate. Burial will follow at Brick Cemetery south of Hagerstown. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday September 24th.
