NEW LISBON- Janet Melton, 54, entered eternal life in heaven on Friday June 7, 2013 from her home while surrounded by her family. A daughter of the late James E. and Suvella (Bertram) Alley, Janet was born in New Castle, Indiana on November 19, 1958. Janet has made her home in New Lisbon for the past 30 years. She was a role model to many, who touched and inspired many lives. Janet loved to spend time with her family and friends and in her leisure she enjoyed vacations on the beach, cruises and exercising with her husband Jeff. Janet had worked for the State of Indiana for over 17 years as a home supervisor at the Indiana Soldier and Sailor Childrens Home in Knightstown until its closing and then at the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility. She also operated a residential cleaning business. Survivors include her husband Jeff Melton whom she married in New Lisbon on July 7, 2008. 3 children, Michael D. Pope of New Castle, Nikki D. (Kevin) Melton of New Lisbon and Tiffany L. (Scott) Lee of New Castle; 2 step daughters, Brittny (Bobby) Berry of New Castle and Christa Melton of Hickory, N. Carolina; 9 grandchildren; 1 sister, Lisa Groce of New Castle. Janet was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Rosemary Adkins, Terry Alley and Debbie Bell. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Burial will follow at the New Lisbon Cemetery in New Lisbon. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday June 11 at the funeral home. Memorial Contribuions can be made to The Little Red Door- 1201 Race Street/ New Castle, IN 47362.
