Obituary

James L. "Jim" Marshall, 84, passed away at his home Tuesday evening September 5, 2023. Jim was born in Jacksonburg, Indiana, on June 22, 1939.  He has lived all his life in the Cambridge City community and following graduation from Lincoln High School in 1958, Jim enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in March of 1962 after being stationed in Germany. Jim started working for Ralph's Chuckwagon before being employed by Chrysler Corp. in New Castle as a machinist. A loyal employee, Jim only missed five days of work in his thirty-nine years of service. He was a "Jack of All Trades", eager to take on any project. He built several of his own homes, and remodeled the ones he did not. He loved sitting out on his porch by his koi pond, listening to the water fall from the fountain. Jim was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his family and never missed a sporting event that his grandkids participated in. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed his Corvettes and in retirement he and his wife of nearly forty years, the former Rita Fox, liked to camp and travel. Together they visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii. Jim was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Cambridge City.

Survivors include his wife Rita Rose Marshall.  They were married at the Cambridge City Christian Church on September 17, 1983; six children, Rick, Rodney, Ryan, and Rhonda Marshall, Jason, and Josh Bishop; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Chandler, Brooke and Chase Marshall, Darian Bishop, Kasey Morrison, and Brady Bishop.

Jim was preceded by his parents, Edward B. Marshall, and Dorothea Fern "Babe" (Cayton) Bird; brothers, Sherman "Joe", John E., and Jerry D. Marshall.
