Jacqueline "Jackie" Meal, 87, died peacefully, while surrounded by loved ones, July 7, 2017 at the Heritage House in Connersville.
Born on December 7, 1929 in Indianapolis to Carl and Myrtle (Clegg) Kluger she was raised in the Morristown community.
After graduating from Morristown High School in 1947, she became a licensed beautician and opened "Jackie's Beauty Shop" for 7 years until the birth of her first child.
She met her husband, Melvin Meal, at Rural Youth Club and were married April 14,1951 while home on his weekend leave from Army basic training before being deployed. They've resided and farmed together for over 50 years in Shelby, Rush and Fayette Counties. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Connersville and formerly a member of Posey Extension Homemakers.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, flying with her husband, a licensed private pilot and her 2 sons, who are also pilots and spending time with her family.
Besides her husband of 66 years, Melvin Meal; survivors include her 3 children, Gary Meal of Fort Wayne; Diane (Meal) Patch, husband John of Germantown, MD; Steve Meal, wife Kathy (Turner), Cambridge City; 5 grandchildren, Crystal (Meal) Huddlestone, husband Jon of Ft Wayne; Ryan Patch, Germantown, MD; Katie (Meal) Wetzel, husband AJ, Jacksonville,NC; Kristen and Keri Meal, Cambridge City; 2 great-grandchildren, Noah and Lola Huddlestone; sister, Sandra (Kluger) Linville, husband Darrell,Shelbyville; sister in law, Betty Kluger, Brookville; brother in law, Bob Carey, Pendleton and many other close family members and close friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Merlin Kluger and Cecilia (Kluger) Carey and a granddaughter, Kendra Meal.
Visitation will be from 4- 8 p.m. Friday, July 14th and one hour prior to Funeral Services on Saturday July 15th at 1:30 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at Bentonville Cemetery.
