HAGERSTOWN-  Jack D. Warvel, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening June 17, 2025 on his farm outside of Hagerstown with his loved ones at his side.  A son of the late Dill "Lefty" and Helen (Schlechty) Warvel, Jack was born in Savona, Ohio on April 16, 1938.  A Cowboy at heart, following high school, Jack and his brother, Jim traveled the country competing in the rodeo circuit.  He then joined the United States Army and was stationed in South Korea before receiving his honorable discharge. Jack had lived in Greens Fork prior to moving to Hagerstown sixty years ago.  He retired from DANA Corporation in Hagerstown after thirty-four years of service.  An avid horseman, Jack, enjoyed trail riding, rodeo and his annual horse camping trips with his friends.  He had raised racehorses, enjoyed playing euchre and was a member of the Hagerstown American Legion Post #333.  He was a former member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge in Richmond.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, the former Elizabeth Crossley.  They were married on their farm in Hagerstown on May 2, 1980; 6 children, Merry (Chris) Warvel, Sherry (Ed) Terhaar, Charles (Michelle) Farr, Linda Don) Leath, Deborah (Barry) Mosier and Deanna (Walt) Heaston; 24 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Joe Warvel.  Jack was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy and brother, Jim Warvel.

Visitation for Jack will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday June 23, 2025 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Cremation will follow.  There will be no graveside service.
