CAMBRIDGE CITY - Jack "Jackie" Banta, age 82, of Cambridge City, Indiana passed away March 10, 2015. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Wayne County to Vaughn Lee and Jeanette Bailey Banta. He was a long-time member of the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 and retired from the Richmond State Hospital after over 20 years of service. He married the former Betty Lester in 1979 and they were happily married for over 35 years. Survivors include his wife Betty Banta; son Robert "Bob" Banta; step sons Lawrence Lingar and Tim Lingar; daughters, Sharon Martinez, Laura Jenkins, Linda Brown, Vicky Gray, Sue Garrison; sisters, Joanne and Carolyn; daughters-in-law, Deloris Banta, Melissa Lingar, Stella Lingar; sons-in-law, Mark Martinez and Ken Garrison; many close friends including all of his girls from Village Pantry and Country Mark in Cambridge City.
