Obituary

NEW CASTLE- Ira Eugene "Red"Hall, 81, passed away Sunday morning May 24, 2009 at The Waters of New Castle. A son of the late Omer and Effie Shiett Hall, Ira was born in New Castle, Indiana on October 30, 1927. He was raised on a farm south of New Castle and graduated from the Lewisville High School with the class of 1945. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a meteorologist. Red lived most of his life in the New Castle community and retired from Chrysler Corp. after 30 years of service. During the layoff periods at Chrysler he would drive and armored car for Wells Fargo. After his retirement he moved to Miami, Florida for 10 years and kept busy driving a dump truck. A 32nd degree Mason, Red has been a member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge # 72 since 1955, and the Scottish Rite since 1956. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Martha Evelyn Stevens on May 21, 2006. They were married in Lewisville, Indiana on May 28, 1950. 2 brothers, Hubert and Paul Joyner; 2 sisters, Alice Morse and Eula Mae Ingermann. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till the time of services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery.
