Alene Winningham, 89 of rural New Castle, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at her home, following a brief illness. Alene was born May 15, 1936 in Cabell, Wayne County Kentucky, the daughter of Willie Ray and Myrtie (Jones) Weston. She was a 1954 graduate of New Castle High School. She married Bruce Winningham on November 16, 1956.

Alene held several jobs during her lifetime. The first of these was collecting bid money at Dickerson's Auction. She was able to purchase her own car through her employment at the Princess, Starette, and Castle theatres. After graduating from high school, she worked at Ft. Ben Harrison, World Bestos, Pacific Finance, and Doyle Plunkitt Insurance. Later in life, Alene was a homemaker. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and reading.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Ray (wife Elizabeth) Winningham; daughters Lydia Enos and Abby Snyder; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Rachel Ann Winningham, husband, brother Russel Weston, infant brother Ralph Silas Weston, and son-in-law Jack Snyder.

Per Alene's wishes, no public services will be held.
