DUBLIN- Hubert Lakes, 78, passed away on Friday morning October 18, 2013 at his home in Dublin, Indiana. A son of the late Raymond and Sallie (Jones) Lakes, Hubert was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on February 21, 1935. Hubert and his family moved to the Dublin community when he was a young boy, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage and hanging out with his neighbor George. Hubert was a loving husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family. He was a flooring installer by trade and was a member of the Indiana Carpenters Union Local #364. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, the former Shirley J. Rigney. They were married in Anderson, Indiana on April 17, 1965; 2 children, Brian Lakes of Dublin and Rhonda (Mike) Greene of Messa, Arizona; 7 grandchildren, Taylor, Thomas C., and Scott Greene, Gina Jones, Katie and Raymond Alan Lakes, Kristen Nicole Ramos; 8 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Freda Handy of Dublin. Hubert was preceded in death by 2 sons, Hubert "Alan" Lakes on September 8, 1996 and Martin Wayne Lakes on May 30, 1999; 1 sister, Margie Vance on November 24, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday October 25, 2013 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Jim Noggle will officiate. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday October 24.
