CONNERSVILLE- Helen Sue Purcell, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon July 22, 2026 at Heritage House in Connersville, Indiana. A daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth (McCradie) Jones, Helen was born in Connersville, Indiana on June 27, 1942 and attended Connersville schools. A homemaker, Ruth also worked as a waitress at area restaurants including many years at Kunkel‘s Drive-In. Helen lived most of her life in the Connersville community and has made Cambridge City her home since the mid 1990’s, residing there with her loving partner, the late Don Hassler. Together they operated the Nifty Food Truck, serving food at area flea markets and other events. She was a member of the Cambridge City American Legion Post 169, Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include 3 children, Ronald (Teresa) Purcell Jr., Debra (Kenneth) Burris and Donna Narvell; grandchildren, Jesse, Adam and Travis Fry, Natasha Payton, Brad Hall, Nycole Dare and Michael Narvell; several great and great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mary Treat; nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Charles “Skip” Purcell Sr. on January 30, 1990; grandson, Josh Hall; siblings, Bud, Jerry, Gene, Edwin and Norman Jones, Barbara Bunch and Alberta Prifogle; son in-law, Robert Thomas Narvell; longtime friend, Janice Offutt.

There are no services planned at this time. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin has been entrusted with Helen’s cremation.
