MILTON - Helen Jean McKee, 91, of rural Milton, Indiana passed away Wednesday evening, June 8, 2016 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. A daughter of the late Everett and Helen (Ward) Lamberson, Helen was born on February 9, 1925 in Rochester, New York. She was raised on the Barefoot Farm near Bentonville, Indiana, and graduated from Bentonville High School with the class of 1943. On December 31, 1946 she married Thomas E. McKee, Jr. at the home of Rev. Burns in Lewisville, Indiana. In 1958 they moved to their farm near Milton. Helen owned the Cambridge City Antiquarian and for a few years worked at Knollenberg's Department Store in Richmond. In her leisure, she enjoyed puzzles, gardening and helping on the farm. Survivors include her children, Pamela J. Hicks of Cambridge City, Michael E. (Yvonne) McKee of Connersville, Charles T. McKee of Milton, Sarah J. McKee of California; grandchildren, Dwana K. McKee, Jessica J. Dickerson, Amy M. McKee (Betsey Pike); great-granddaughter, Claire Y. Dickerson, sisters, Barbara Riddle, Verna Smedes both of California. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thomas E. McKee, Jr. on May 11, 2014; son, Gerald McKee on April 21, 2003; grandson, Timothy Hicks on August 6, 1980; brothers Floyd and Everett Lamberson. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Bentonville Cemetery, located on County Road 550 south of Bentonville in Fayette County. Rev. Tim Denney will officiate.
