RICHMOND- Helen L. Boggs, 88, passed away Friday morning December 9, 2016 at Golden Living in Richmond, Indiana. A daughter of Richard and Dortha Irene (Blackford) Shaffer, Helen was born in Richmond, Indiana on April 28, 1928. She was a lifelong resident of Richmond and a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed cooking for her family, fishing and taking car rides through the country. Survivors include 2 children, Janet L. Powell and Larry Boggs both of Richmond; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard Shaffer. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Dorman E. Boggs on July 21, 2004. They were married in Liberty, Indiana on August 18, 1945. 1 son, Kenny Ray Boggs; 1 great grandson, Dravin Bradley; 2 siblings, Paul Shaffer and Rebecca "Sara" Day. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Monday December 12, 2016 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Dan Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville.
