MILTON- Harold R. Tackett Sr., 86, passed away on Sunday morning August 18, 2013 at Caroleton Manor in Connersville, Indiana. A son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Nettie (Boyd) Tackett, Harold was born in East Point (Floyd County), Kentucky on October 3, 1926. Formerly of Connersville and Cambridge City, Harold has made his home in Milton since 1965. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946. Harold retired from MEG in Cambridge City in1990 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Connersville Baptist Temple, Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 and the 40 & 8. In his leisure he enjoyed playing BINGO, yard work, gardening and visiting with friends and family especially his grandkids. He was Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. Survivors include his wife, the former Frances May. They were married at the Methodist Church in Milton on March 2, 1962; 5 children, Dianna Tackett and Dana (Mike) Musick both of Kentucky, Russ Tackett of Lawrence, Sorrell Tackett and Kaela (Rick) Keasling both of Cambridge City; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Delores Castle and Dorothy Osborne both of Kentucky; nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Alice Litz, Lillian Woods and Ruth Marsh; 3 brothers, Mack Fields, Bill and Floyd Tackett; 2 nephews; 1 niece. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday August 21, 2013 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. The Reverends Don Day and Kim McHale will officiate. Entombment with military honors by American Legion Post 169 will follow at the Earlham Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. today, Tuesday August 20 at the funeral home.
