STRAUGHN- Harold F. "Ike" Query, 87, passed away on Friday evening May 13, 2016 at Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. A son of the late Charles E. and Gladys M. (Melton) Query, Harold was born on the family farm north of Straughn, Indiana on November 1, 1928. Harold was a lifelong farmer and lived most all his life in the Straughn area. He had to quit school in the eighth grade to work on the family farm and as a youth he attended New Lisbon Christian Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a corporal during the Korean War. Harold also worked for Golay & Company in Cambridge City at Converto from 1964- 1989 where he was a machine operator. He retired from farming in the mid 1990's. Harold enjoyed tinkering on items to make them work again and could build anything that was needed by family or friends. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, the former Wilma D. Rummel whom he married on August 10, 1949 at the home of Paul and Iris Chew. 5 children, Debra (Wesley) Schelske of Indianapolis, Richard (Sondra) Query of Dunreith, Kevin Query of Straughn, Lisa (Tony) Jones of Mustang, OK and Maria Query-Hill of Straughn; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Dorothy Carpenter of Dublin; 1 brother, Eugene (Norma Jean) Query of Straughn; nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by an infant son, Arnold Franklin Query; 4 siblings, Charles J. "Chuck" and Harland Query, Mary McDaniels and Helen Scott and his pet cat, Tinker Bell. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday May 19, 2016 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Rev. Marion Hickman will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery north of Dublin in Henry County. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on May 18 at the Lewisville Chapel.
