STRAUGHN- Golda Choat, 96, passed away Tuesday morning April 6, 2010 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle, Indiana. A daughter of the late John and Mary (McWilliams) Burge, Golda was born in Ingle, Kentucky on December 11, 1913. Formerly of the Knightstown area Golda had lived in Straughn since 1949. Golda married John O Choat on November 26, 1941 in Somerset, Kentucky and together they were the owner / operators of the Straughn Poultry Processing Plant for 22 years before their retirement in 1985. She enjoyed her family and quilting. Survivors include her 3 grandchildren- Linda E. (Ronald) Vores of Tipton Karen E. (Adam) Stegner of Mooreland James E. ( Penny) Sons of Straughn 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and son in-law- Eldon ( Marilyn) Sons of Straughn. Golda was preceded in death by her husband on July 1, 1995; her daughter- Josephine E. Sons on August 8, 1993; 3 brothers- Orvile, Omer and infant Burge; 1 sister- Opal. Visitation will be from 12 - 1 p.m. on Thursday April 8, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Jim Nichols of the New Hope Church in Lewisville will officiate. Burial will be at the Lewisville Cemetery.
