RICHMOND - Gertrude E. West, 85, of Richmond passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at Reid Hospital. She was born on December 2, 1929 in Independence, Missouri to John and Blanche Hoy. Gertrude married Charles E. West on December 31, 1947 in Richmond. In her early years, Gertrude worked at Decca Records and later at Graham Cleaners. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, and was an active member of Bethesda Worship Center. Survivors include her children, David E. West of Spokane, Washington, Kristy M. Lakes of Ridge Manor, Florida, Valerie L. Taylor and Mike (Joy) West all of Richmond; grandchildren, Charles E West II, Andrew D. West, David E. West, Jr., Douglass Lakes, Melissa Lakes, Lori McCracken, Beth Elmore; step grandchildren, Michael, Brandy, Chasity Clark, Nicholas and Laila Cole; nine great-grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles, on July 2, 2005; great-grandson, Joseph Wyatt Elmore; brothers, John and Charles Hoy. Family and friends may gather from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Kendall Harris will officiate. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery, Dublin.
