Connersville- George A. Clayton, 88, passed away at the Heritage House of Connersville on Tuesday morning October 19, 2010. A son of the late Frank A. and Zella E. (Holmes) Clayton, George was born in Koleen, Indiana on December 8, 1921. George has lived in the Everton area of Fayette County since 1946. He worked as a press operator at Ford Aerospace in Connersville and retired in 1983 after 35 years of service. Following his retirement he and his wife lived in Tavares, Florida for 18 years. George was a member of the Everton Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. Survivors include 5 children- Harold (Doris) Clayton and Sharon Laughlin both of Connersville, Sue Davis of Richmond, Robert "Bobby" Clayton of Dublin and Yvonna Clayton of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; several great and great -great grandchildren; 3 sisters- Bertha Mae Murphy of Vincennes, Ruby Baker of Emerald Isle, N. Carolina and Ruthie Pruett of Unionville; nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his wife the former Viola L. King whom he married in Bloomfield, Indiana on November 7, 1940. She passed away on June 23, 2003; 3 grandchildren; 5 brothers; 5 sisters. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Monday October 25, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Freddie Helton will officiate.
