Dublin: Gene Allen Thomas, 62, passed away Wednesday evening November 24, 2010 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Gene was born in New Castle, Indiana on June 12, 1948 and lived most of his life in the Dublin community. He has resided at the VOCA Group Home in Richmond for the past several years. He worked at ACHEVA in Richmond and was a member of the Golden Explorers. Gene loved to play the guitar and piano and enjoyed watching King Kong and the Dukes of Hazzard. Survivors include 1 sister- Teresa ( Rick) Newton of Dublin; 3 nephews- Nathan ( Sara) Newton of Connersville, Nick ( Rhonda) of Richmond and Clint ( Beth) Newton of Cambridge City; uncle- Dick Carey of Hagerstown, 4 great nephews and several cousins. Gene was preceded in death by his father- Robert L. Thomas on November 3, 1970 and his mother- Vera E. (Carey) Thomas on March 29, 1997; uncle Jim Carey and aunt Patricia Carey. Visitation will e from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. (today) Saturday November 27, 2010 at The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Jim King of Connersville will officiate. Burial to follow at the Valley Grove Cemetery, south of Milton, Indiana.
