Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY-  Gary Michael West, 63, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday March 25, 2026.  A son of Wayne and Lois (Graham) West, Gary was born in Connersville, Indiana on September 1, 1962.  A lifelong resident of the Cambridge City community, Gary was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1981.  He was active in 4-H as a member of the Rough Riders and had a lot of fun riding his horse "Bambi" in the Barrel Race competitions.  Gary worked hard his entire life.  He was a carpenter and concrete finisher by trade and member of the Carpenter's Union in Muncie.  He was also self employed as owner and operator of Tri County Septic and Excavating and GW Concrete. Most recently he was employed by RTA Outdoor Living in Cambridge City.   In his leisure, Gary enjoyed golfing, hunting and telling a good joke, but loved spending time with his children and being "Poppy" to his grandkids the most.

Gary is survived by his parents; his wife of nearly 26 years, Patricia "Patty" West.  They were married in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on May 20, 2000. 5 children, Aaron (Ashley) West, Ethan (Paige) West, Abbe (Joe) Pflum, Chris (Jacalynn) Stapleton and Tricia Stapleton; grandchildren, McKenna Ccamaque, Addison West, Lane Nemann, Nash and Jett Sparks, True West, Charlotte Latham, Axle, Graham and Norrie Pflum, Kedryn, Anistyn and Selleck Stapleton, Gabe and Andie Stapleton; siblings, Steve (Sharon) West, Scott (Angie) West and Kehla (Erik) Kivi; special nephew, Grant West and nieces, Morgan West, Seraphina and Gwendolyn Kivi.  Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Jann West on January 8, 1985.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday March 31, 2026 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Michaelprakasam at 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 1st at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Cambridge City. Following lunch at the parish center, interment will take place at Shrine of Memory Mausoleum in Connersville.
