Obituary

Connersville- Gary C. Reed, 60 , passed away on Thursday September 22, 2011 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. The son of the late William Keith and Roberta Jean (Dishman) Reed, Gary was born in Henry County, Indiana on February 6, 1951 A longtime Lewisville resident, Gary graduated from high school there with the class of 1969. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from active duty on February 14, 1973. After his marriage to the former Becki Rayburn on November 16, 1974 in Otisco (Clark County), Indiana, Gary had lived in Straughn before moving to the rural Bentonville community. He was a member of the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 in Cambridge City and retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1999. Gary loved to fish, hunt , spend time outdoors and his dog. Survivors include his wife of 36 years Becki (Rayburn) Reed of Connersville; 2 sisters, JoAnne Paull of Lewisville and Beth (Chuck) McKnight of New Castle; father in-law, Gordon (Carol) Rayburn of Cambridge City; mother in-law, Nell Bush of Florida; sister in-law, Grey Rayburn of Lewisville; brother in-law, Bobby (Megan) Rayburn of Spiceland; 2 nephews, Willy (Laffanene) Paull of Lewisville and Harley McKnight of New Castle; 4 nieces, Amanda (Scott) Wilson of Oklahoma, Layla McKnight of Indianapolis, Nora and Charlotte Rayburn of Spiceland; Gary was preceded in death by father William Reed on January 30, 2000 and his mother Roberta Jean Reed on July 23, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday September 27, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 169 of Cambridge City. Visitation will be prior to the services from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
