Avon Park, Florida - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Robert Ingalls on February 11th, 2026, at the age of 83. Gary was born on August 9th, 1942, in East Germantown, Indiana, to Bill and Martha (Mullen) Ingalls. He met the love of his life, Sharon Campbell, and they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage together. Gary retired from the printing industry in 1994 and relocated to Avon Park, Florida. Gary was affectionately known as "Mr. Claus," portraying Santa Claus during the Christmas season for 20 years in Avon Park, Florida. He brought joy and laughter to countless families and children throughout the community. He was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and, alongside his beloved wife Sharon, were devout members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his son, William (Jennifer) Ingalls of Spring Grove, Illinois; his daughter, Lisa Sykora of Zion, Illinois; and five cherished grandchildren: Brandon, Kayla, Timothy, Sam, and Rose; brothers, Michael (Debbie) Ingalls, Marvin (Debbie) Ingalls, Jerry (Terri) Ingalls and David (Carey) Ingalls; sisters, Nancy (the late Frank) Sherwood and Kathy (Tom) Hyton; several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by 5 siblings, infant Ralph Ingalls, Betty Wissler-Feaselman, Joan McCord, Billy Ingalls and Dwight Ingalls.
Gary will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast faith, and the joy he brought to others, especially during the Christmas season. His legacy of love and devotion to family and community will live on in all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23rd, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin, Indiana. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Father Michael Puthumaisavari will officiate. Burial will follow Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing, Indiana.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, in Avon Park, Florida.
