Wilkinson- Gary L. Fearnow, 62, of Wilkinson and formerly of Fortville, passed away at Manor Care Nursing Home in Anderson, Indiana on Monday morning August 24, 2009. Gary was born in Kokomo, Indiana on January 10, 1947. Gary graduated from Clinton Central High School in Clinton County. He was honorably discharged on from the United States Army on April 24, 1968 after serving his country in Vietnam. Gary was a self employed HVAC contractor and was owner/operator of J & G Heating and Air Conditioning Service in Fortville. Formerly of Oaklandon and Fortville, he has lived in Wilkinson since 1996. Gary was an active member of the Fortville Christian Church where he was a Church Elder and Sunday School Teacher. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed being on his boat and fishing at Brookville, Summit, Westwood and Cataract Lakes. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, the former Joan Willhelm, whom he wed on October 7, 1982 at the Oaklandon Christian Church. 7 children- Lisa Deeds and Brad Fearnow of Walton, Terry and John Schneider of Oaklandon, Christina Schneider of New Palestine, David Schneider of Fishers and Jared Schneider of Zionsville; his mother- Olive (Hill) Fearnow of Mississippi ; 19 grandchildren; 2 sisters- Jane Main of Mississippi and Linda Slipher of Fishers; 1 brother- Steve Fearnow of Tennessee; nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father- Gerald Fearnow. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday August 28, 2009 at the Fortville Christian Church - 9450 N. 200 W. / Fortville, IN 46040. Minister Dale Holtzbaur will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Fortville American Legion Post 391 will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday August 27 at the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Fortville Christian Church, the American Cancer Society or the Veterans Hospital. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
