STRAUGHN - Freddie Lee Brown, 69, of Straughn went to be with his Lord early Thursday morning, April 21, 2016. The only child of the late James "Jim" and Ellen (Troxell) Brown, Freddie was born on November 24, 1946 in Monticello, Kentucky. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Freddie has made his home in Straughn for 23 years and worked as a welder, retiring in 2013 from Keihin IPT Manufacturing in Greenfield. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, the former Bessie L. Sexton whom he married on June 8, 1968 in Monticello, Kentucky. Daughters, Frances (Phil) Miers of Carthage, Mary Brown of Charlottesville, Tanya (Randy) Cornett of Spiceland; grandchildren, Christian & Tyler Catron, Ariel & Cole Cornett. In honoring Freddie's wishes, following cremation a military service provided by the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Immediately following the service, family and friends may visit and share memories of Freddie until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Henry County Cancer Society, c/o Henry County Community Foundation, 700 South Memorial Drive, New Castle, Indiana 47362.
